392 Kings Road is a five storey building situated on the ever fashionable Kings Road in Chelsea, with basement and ground floors being occupied by a restaurant and high specification flats on the upper floors.
In 2010 there was a fire from the kitchen of the restaurant, located in the basement, which spread up the building through the existing extract and intake risers and across the main roof. The fire brigade managed to control the spread of the fire however a large proportion of building suffered damage from fire, smoke, water, and access made by the fire investigation team.
We were employed by the owner of the building to repair the damage created by the fire, however, as the building housed both retail and residential tenants it was imperative that the remedial works be undertaken within the shortest possible timescale in order to minimise disruption to the residents, being re housed within local hotels, and to allow the restaurant to resume trading at the earliest possible opportunity.
As the full extent of the damage was unknown, initial opening up works had to be undertaken so that the building could be thoroughly assessed by the loss adjusters. We successfully restored the building to its original condition and the occupants were able to move back in October 2010
